Paris Air Show 2011: Day 3 : Airbus flying above Boeing*

(*Note: due to the large number of non-french resident readers, we'll be writing in English and see the impact on the audience. Let us know if you have any comments or ideas)

Airbus shines by the number of orders accumulated during this 49th edition of the Paris Air Show 2011 with 347 confirmed orders so far and 580 aircrafts when taking into account the on-going agreements. Boeing is a bit more in the fog with 126 orders so far from which 61 are confirmed.
The renewed A320Neo passenger jet has been putting a lot of pressure on Boeing with 150 A320Neo (New Engine Option) ordered so far. With today’s orders, the European plane manufacturer cumulates a total backlog of 59 billion dollars at the current prices.
Yesterday, Airbus’ Sales Chief had announced that the company had 544 commitments for its new A320 Aircraft which are all going to be powered by CFM engines. A lot of sales are currently ongoing but are not yet confirmed by Airbus.

The number of sales totalized so far during this Air Show is showing the evidence that there is currently a solid upswing in the civil aviation area mostly led by the Asian emerging countries.
Moreover, the increase of oil prices this year are more and more likely to develop among buyers a sense of urgency to look into fuel-efficient aircrafts and energy-friendly solutions.
